Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark took the stage during ESPN’s College GameDay Broadcast on Saturday morning and discussed several topics related to the league.

With recent conversations surrounding the SEC’s basketball improvement in 2024-25, Yormark settled the debate of which league is No. 1 in a calm and collected fashion.

“Over the last five to ten years, there’s no debate who the No. 1 basketball conference in America has been, and it’s been the Big 12,” Yormark said. “And if you think about, with realignment the last two years, we got better. Think about Arizona, think about Houston here, think about BYU. That being said, I do expect us to have a presence in San Antonio.”

While higher-ups at ESPN have made it their mission to crown the SEC the kings of everything, Yormark delivered some powerful words about where the Big 12 has come back from and what the future looks like going forward.

To his point about having a presence in San Antonio in the Final Four, the Big 12 Conference has fielded three National Championship participants in the past five tournaments, two of which won the whole thing.

Yormark finished his thoughts by saying, “That is the expectation when you think about Big 12 Basketball, and when we’re there, I think it further credentializes us as the No. 1 basketball conference in America.”
