The Baylor Bears have lost running back Richard Reese to the transfer portal.

Reese announced his departure from the Bears in a social media post on X he shared with his followers on Thursday evening, writing in part, “Wearing green and gold has been an honor, and I’m forever grateful for the memories, friendships and opportunities I’ve had in Waco. After much prayer, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal to find the best place for my future both on and off the field.”

Here’s his full post.

After winning the 2022 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Reese’s production has been decreasing. In his first season, he ran for 972 yards and 14 touchdowns on 198 carries. During the 2024 season, he ran for 241 yards and a touchdown. He was third on the team in rushing yards between underclassmen Bryson Washington and Dawson Pendergrass.

Washington was the star of the backfield last season, rushing for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman.

So for Reese, he will look for a new home where he can get some more run. But the transfer portal window is not yet open. It officially opens on April 16th, as players will begin looking for a place to play in the fall of 2025.
