Is there anything better than cold beer and baseball? It’s a combination that is hard to beat during the season. No matter what kind of beer you drink (or how many), let’s take a look at some of the best action on the Big 12 baseball diamond from Saturday with a nice six pack.

Best Game

BYU

BYU took on Stetson twice on Saturday for a double header but game one is where I wanted to focus on. The Hatters had a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the ninth and Copper Vest was the hero who walked it off for the Cougars.

Best Win

TCU

The Horned Frogs were able to secure a series win on Saturday night in Fort Worth over Fresno State. Despite being down 4-0 in the third inning, TCU was able to make quite the comeback.

Anthony Silva got the comeback started with a two-run bomb in the fourth inning before a three-run seventh inning gave the Frogs the lead and the game.

Worst Loss

Texas Tech

There were only two Big 12 teams that lost on Saturday with West Virginia and Texas Tech. The Mountaineers suffered their first loss of the season, but the Red Raiders just dropped the series to Grand Canyon on Saturday and fell to 3-10 on the season. Now the Texas Tech has to win on Sunday to avoid being swept.

Saturday MVP

Kansas State SS Maximus Martin

It’s not often that you see a player finish with 8 RBIs but that is exactly what Maximus Martin did on Saturday. He started his day with a grand slam and then followed that up with a three-run blast in the second inning before adding another run in the third.

Pitcher of the Day

Arizona State RHP Jack Martinez

Jack had a career performance against Gonzaga on Saturday night. He pitched seven innings, struck out ten batters and didn’t allow a single run. In fact, Jack allowed just one hit during his time on the mound. It was one of the best performances I have seen so far this season.

Best Home Run

Kansas State 1B AJ Evasco

AJ’s three-run bomb in the seventh inning gave Kansas State a run rule victory over William & Mary on Saturday night.
