On Sunday morning, NC State Athletics announced that they are moving on from head coach Kevin Keatts after eight years with the program.

The move comes just one season after NC State’s historic 2024 NCAA Tournament run, which resulted in the team advancing to the Final Four.

“As we enter this new era of college sports, I wholeheartedly believe that I am leaving the program in a better position to succeed than when I started – and that the basketball program will continue to thrive when supported to the level necessary to compete,” Keatts said. “Finally, thank you to all the players, assistant coaches, managers, staff, and supporters that joined my family and I on this journey.”

In 2023-24, Keatts and the Wolfpack went viral for their incredible run to the Final Four. The group finished with a 26-15 record before a drastic swing in the following year. In 2024-25, Keatts led NC State to an overall record of 12-19, missing the NCAA Tournament, which contributed to the move.

Despite the disappointing circumstance, Keatts funnily ended his statement, announcing that he was “officially entering the transfer portal.”

He finishes his NC State coaching career at 151-113 and 69-84 in league play.
