Since joining the Big 12 Conference in 2023-24, Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars have dominated nearly everyone in their path.

Houston took home a Big 12 regular season title for the second straight season and looks to make a deep run in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

On Saturday night, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein posted a tweet highlighting the impressive two-year streak of Houston Basketball and advocated for the athletic department to put Sampson’s name on the court ahead of 2025-26.

“Dear Houston’s Administration, Your team is 34-4 in Big 12 regular season games in its first two years in the conference,” Rothstein said. “Do us all a favor, and in your first home game next season put Kelvin Sampson’s name on the court at the Fertitta Center. Sincerely, JR.”

Shortly after its release, one Houston legend quote tweeted the post and agreed that the Cougars should make it happen. That player was former Big 12 Player of the Year Jamal Shead, who replied saying, “I 2nd that !!!!”

The Cougars’ next task is the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, which the team enters as the No. 1 seed. In the previous season, they were defeated by Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship, 69-41.
