The regular season is over, and the Big 12 tournament is less than 24 hours away, which means that March Madness is in the air.

Just over a week from now, the 2025 NCAA Tournament will get underway, and we’ll see a field of 68 teams dwindled down until there is just one team left standing.

The same goes for the Naismith College Player of the Year Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding basketball player in the country.

At the end of the tournament, the College Player of the Year will be announced, and while there’s still a lot of big-time basketball left to be played, the majority of the work has already been put in. Using data collected throughout the season, the KenPom.com Player of the Year Standings are a pretty good indicator of who might win the Naismith, too.

According to the latest projections, at least two Big 12 players are firmly in the mix—and one of them might surprise you.

Duke superstar Cooper Flagg is the current leader for the kPOY, but Kansas’ Hunter Dickinson is third among all players, and Texas Tech’s JT Toppin is fourth.

Toppin was just named the Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year on Monday, while Dickinson was a first-team All-Big 12 selection.
