Iowa State advanced to the third round of the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament with a 76-56 win over Cincinnati on Wednesday, and is set to face fourth-seeded BYU on Thursday.

The Cyclones will have to do it without the help of starting guard Keshon Gilbert, as he will miss the game with a muscle strain, per an announcement from the program.

Tamin Lipsey was also apparently limited to end Wednesday’s contest but is expected to play on Thursday.

It’s no small loss for the Cyclones, as Gilbert was a third-team All-Big 12 selection after ranking second on the team with 13.4 points per game. He is also averaging 3.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 48.4% from the field.

Gilbert logged just 11 minutes against the Bearcats on Wednesday and was not himself, coming off the bench and scoring just three points on two total shots.

The Cyclones and Cougars will tip at 11:30 am CT, and a preview of the game can be found here.

The winner of today’s game will face the winner of Houston vs. Colorado in the semifinal round on Friday. That game is scheduled for 6:00 pm CT on ESPN or ESPN2.
