On Monday, T.J. Otzelberger and the Iowa State Cyclones saw three different players hit the transfer portal in the span of an hour.

Those three players include a pair of freshmen, JT Rock and Kayden Fish, as well as junior guard Demarion Watson.

In 2024-25, Watson played the most of the trio, seeing action in 18 games on an average of 8.8 minutes per game. The two freshmen took the court in half as many games, with each player recording minutes in nine total games.

Iowa State Nation first reported the moves of Fish and Watson, while Rock took to social media to make the announcement for himself.

“I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining,” Rock said. “I am appreciative of my experiences at Iowa State and I look forward to what is next.”

The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
