Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats have scheduled their first official visit of transfer portal season with a big-name wing.
That player is Omaha’s Marquel Sutton, who was named the Summit League Player of the Year for his spectacular play in 2024-25.
First to report the news was 247HSHoops’ Sam Kayser, who mentioned that the star wing would be on campus in Manhattan, Kansas, on Monday, April 31st.
Last season with the Mavericks, Sutton recorded 18.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game on 47.9% shooting from the field. He also connected on 27.7% from three and 73.9% from the free throw line.
He’s heard from some big names in the transfer portal, including Kansas State, Kansas, Miami, Ohio State, Utah, Xavier, Texas, Notre Dame, LSU, Mississippi State, Clemson, Baylor, Missouri, Washington, Iowa, and many more.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
