On Monday evening, Tommy Lloyd and the Arizona Wildcats lost a big name to the transfer portal with sophomore big man Henri Veesaar electing to go portaling.
Veesaar, a 7-foot forward from Estonia, stepped up in a big way during his second season with the Wildcats, filling in admirably for the injured Motiejus Krivas.
As a sophomore in 2024-25, Veesaar posted 9.4 points, five rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 59.2% shooting from the field. He saw action in all 37 of Arizona’s games, averaging 20.8 minutes per game.
Coming out of Estonia in the Class of 2022, Veesaar was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 36th-ranked player. He also checked in as the eighth-ranked center in his class and the top-ranked player in his country.
With his decision to transfer, he became the second Wildcat to enter the portal on Monday, joining freshman center Emmanuel Stephen.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in the 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
