Don’t worry; this isn’t an April Fool’s joke when you see something way too good to be true. No, this is ingenuity in fan experience at its best, and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are at the helm.
On Monday afternoon, CCU athletics posted this video to announced that all fans at all home games in 2025 will have free concessions with the “CCU Kickoff Meal Deal.”
Thanks to a partnership with its concessionaire (Aramark), fans attending Coastal Carolina football games will eat for free inside Brooks Stadium this fall.
“Our fans are the heartbeat of Teal Nation, and we’re always looking for ways to elevate their game day experience,” VP for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation Chance Miller said. “With the CCU Kickoff Meal Deal, we’re excited to offer free concessions this fall as a way to say thank you for the energy, passion and support they bring to Brooks Stadium every game.”
Fans who purchase tickets to the game will be allowed to visit the concession stand as many times as they wish during a game and can acquire four items per visit, choosing from the following selections: hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and fountain drinks.
Specialty items, such as alcoholic beverages or food from outside vendors, will still be available for purchase, but outside of the beer, fans will have everything they need to enjoy the game.
With college athletics becoming less and less about the fan experience, it’s refreshing to see a program putting it’s supporters first with a move like this. Coastal Carolina will begin its 2025 season on the road against Virginia on August 30, but will have back-to-back home games against Charleston Southern (Sep 6) and East Carolina (Sep 13) in the weeks following that.
