At some point or another, we’ve all fallen for the antics that come along with the calendar rolling over to April 1.

April Fool’s Day has become a dangerous time for sports fans to be on social media, as internet trolls have refined their graphic design skills well enough that it’s almost impossible for the untrained eye to discern what is real and what is not.

Then, there are those in charge of team social media accounts who lean into the unofficial holiday and get unsuspecting fans to believe the wildest things, taking it hook, line, and sinker.

Some Big 12 social media accounts got in on the fun on Tuesday, starting with the Arizona State Football account, who “announced” that Mountain America Stadium will have a new look this fall.

This looks cool, in theory, but watching an actual football game on red turf is probably not for everyone. Just ask the teams that travel to play Eastern Washington at Roos Field.

Arizona State is coming off an amazing season, which was capped by a Big 12 Championship and an instant classic against Texas in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The Sun Devils are one of the betting favorites to get back to the Big 12 Championship in 2025 and will have a shot with Sam Leavitt back at quarterback for Kenny Dillingham.
