In a decision that’s been expected for some time now, Oklahoma freshman guard Jeremiah Fears has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft.
Fears, who didn’t turn 19 until October, enrolled in college a year early and was immediately one of the best freshman in the country.
Ranked as the No. 7 prospect in ESPN’s NBA Draft projections, Fears earned SEC All-Freshman team honors after averaging 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists for the Sooners in 2024-25.
Fears initially made his announcement on “The Paul Finebaum Show” before sharing a post on social media.
“I was lucky to walk into a great situation at Oklahoma with a lot of opportunity,” Fears said. “I had great teammates and coaches working with me every day to help a young freshman achieve his dreams.”
After some midseason struggles in SEC play, Fears found his stride down the stretch when the Sooners needed him most. Oklahoma entered the final week of the regular season on the wrong side of the bubble, but Fears’ 31 points helped lead Oklahoma past No. 15 Missouri in a 96-84 victory. Then, after 13 points in a win over Texas, Fears dropped 29 points against Georgia and 28 points in a last second loss to Kentucky in the SEC Championship.
He also had 20 points in the Sooners’ NCAA Tournament game, a 67-59 loss to UConn in the first round.
The NBA Combine will be held May 11-18 in Chicago, and the NBA Draft will be June 25-26 in New York. Fears is a consensus top-10 talent in the current NBA talent pool for this class.
