In an interesting development noted by the Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, Miami transfer Nijel Pack is considering a return to the Big 12 Conference next season.

Pack is reportedly considering a return to Kansas State to play for Jerome Tang after leaving the program in 2021-22, in addition to in-state rival Kansas, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Clemson.

Pack has been an incredibly effective player throughout his five-year career, averaging double figures every season of college basketball. His best year came in 2021-22 at Kansas State, where he posted 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

After Bruce Webber was fired at Kansas State, the program hired Jerome Tang, which led Pack to enter his name in the portal and transfer to Miami. He spent three seasons with the Hurricanes, where he was expected to finish his career, prior to a season-ending injury, which granted him a medical waiver to return for one final season.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in the 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
