After losing star guard Rob Wright III to the transfer portal in surprising fashion, the Baylor Bears are set to host an impressive player from the transfer portal to add some depth in the backcourt.

According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, Michigan State guard transfer Tre Holloman is set to take a trip to Waco to meet with Scott Drew.

In addition to a Baylor visit, Holloman is expected to make stops at North Carolina, NC State, and Villanova.

In 2024-24, the junior guard posted 9.1 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game on 37.3% shooting from the field. He saw action in 37 games this season with 16 starts, bringing his career total to 106 games played and 18 games started in three seasons with the Spartans.

Coming out of Cretin Derham Hall in the Class of 2022, Holloman was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 81st-ranked player. He also checked in as the 12th-ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in the state of Minnesota.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in the 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
