Despite leaving Kansas State for Ohio State and winning a national championship with the Buckeyes, former Wildcat quarterback Will Howard still loves his former team.

In a recent conversation with Barstool Sports’ Jon Gruden, Howard spoke about his time in Manhattan and his relationship with current head coach Chris Klieman.

“This dude is a player’s coach, 100%,” Howard said. “He is a dude that you want to send your son to play for. He will take care of you, on and off the field, and he’s gonna push you to be the best you can possibly be.”

While many expected the relationship between Howard and Klieman to sour with star freshman Avery Johnson taking over the reigns in Manhattan, the move appeared to work out for both parties.

In a recent press conference from Chris Klieman, Howard received a shoutout for his hand in Kansas State landing a pair of Ohio State transfers this offseason, linebacker Gabe Powers and offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick.

Howard also mentioned the art of perfecting his shotgunning beer celebration with Kansas State center Hayden Gillum, and other memories from his time in the Big 12.

Now, Howard attacks the offseason as he gets set for the 2025 NFL Draft as one of the group’s headlining prospects.
