As we approach the midway point of April, college football programs around the country are beginning to put a bow on spring activities.
Some will provide answers to their fan bases with spring games, while others will opt to keep things more secretive until fall ball rolls around in a couple of months. It’s difficult to keep tabs on programs in the spring with all the moving parts, but there is notable movement happening in Boulder, Colorado, this week.
Scott Proctor of DNVR Buffs reported on Wednesday afternoon that Colorado running back Isaiah Augustave is no longer with the program.
Augustave led the Buffaloes with 384 rushing yards and four touchdowns last season, averaging 4.5 yards per carry in the worst rushing attack in the country. Colorado’s 65.2 rushing yards per game ranked 133rd out of 133 teams, trailing the No. 132 rushing offense (Kent State) by more than 10 yards per game.
Nearly 75% of Augustave’s production came after contact, as the Colorado offensive line struggled mightily with consistency all season.
Now, with the team’s top rusher headed out, Deion Sanders and company will have to rely on someone else to get the run game going.
As of now, the Buffs have Dallan Hayden, Charlie Offerdahl, and Micah Welch all returning for the 2025 season. One of them desperately needs to take over the Colorado backfield if they want to continue their success from a season ago.
The hard truth is that without the likes of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, they’ll have to find more offensive balance to keep winning, and the loss of Augustave certainly doesn’t help in that regard.
