In something that may not come as a shock to fans of Big 12 Basketball, Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns have been one of the most disappointing high major teams in college basketball this year.

Despite being just 6-12 in SEC conference play, the Longhorns find themselves on the bubble in multiple NCAA Tournament projections, and here is where some experts believe Texas should fall.

The godfather of bracketology, Joey Brackets, otherwise known as ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, has the Longhorns on the wrong side of the bubble, listed two spaces out of the tournament field. Texas was able to pull off a big upset in the SEC Tournament, knocking out the fifth seed, Texas A&M, before falling to No. 4 Tennessee.

Elsewhere, bracketology projections like that of T3 and TSB have the Longhorns missing out on post-season play, with T3 Bracketology placing Texas on the bubble but missing the tourney and TSB Bracketology doing the same.

In their first year as members of the SEC, Texas recorded an overall record of 19-15 and a conference record of 6-12. They had a solid path through the non-conference slate, totaling 11 wins and two losses, with the losses being to unranked Ohio State and UConn.

Since then, they’ve put together a similar rollercoaster ride filled with some tough losses to underperforming teams. Their tournament future will be decided on Sunday, March 16th, on the Selection Sunday show.
