A tale as old as time: ESPN and its associates attempting to change the format of one of the best post-season tournaments in sports.

On Saturday, during ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast, the narrative of NCAA Tournament expansion was brought up with a report from Pete Thamel, which was greeted with a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Throughout Thamel’s report, boos wrang down in Tuscaloosa with college basketball fans rejecting the idea of tournament expansion. Rece Davis even chimed in, asking the crowd, “Do you guys not want expansion? They’re happy with 68. They believe that 68 is the perfect number. I don’t know why.”

Davis’ comments are another textbook example of ESPN personalities not understanding the needs of fans. College basketball fans aren’t looking for more teams to make the field. They simply want to enjoy what is undoubtedly the best tournament in sports each season.

Don’t believe me? Ask the countless fans who chimed in with replies to the tweet.
